Message from Senator Barack Obama
4/17/2006
Dear Linda:
Please accept my condolences for the loss of your daughter. I applaud your work to help those who will be afflicted with this disease, and look forward to receiving your meeting request. I share your view on the importance of strengthening the Federal commitment to combating cancer.
I voted against this year's budget because it cut proven domestic programs, such as vital cancer research, too deeply. It shortchanges vital national priorities, and it is our responsibility to take seriously the war on cancer and provide adequate funding. You may be assured that I will continue to fight for more funding for cancer research.
Thank you for writing, and for notifying me of your trip. I hope I will see you in D.C. Sincerely,
Barack Obama United States Senator
