Post Surgery Update

Lori made it throught the surgery fine and is recovering in post-op. We have yet to see her, but her surgeon, Dr. Levy said she's doing fine, talking and asking questions. He indicated they found what they expected to find, a mixture of necrosis (dead tissue) and tumor cells. Her tumor was well circumscribed (defined edges) and he removed all visible signs of tumor. The area around the tumor is well suited for the infusion of the experimental drug. We are praying for a recovery without complications and a successful infusion of the experimental drug, and most importantly that the drug will kill any remaining tumor cells.

From a distance this morning I watched Dr. Levy confer with his team before surgery, starbucks coffee in hand, calm and collected, gathering information and setting the plan in motion. An artist, a healer, a general directing his team into action. I realized his intentions are directed by love, just as all of the family assembled in the waiting room laugh, smile, comfort one another and speak of Lori's recovery. All focused for moments in time on the healing of a fellow human, my beloved wife Lori.
