Dr. Raizer and Dr. Levy to the Rescue!
9/2/2003

Since everything was closed on Monday due to the holiday, Erik and I had to wait until Tuesday to start our stream of phone calls. First we called the neurologist I had an appt with on that Wednesday. Left messages for her, my primary, and anyone else we could think of. Then I had the brilliant idea of calling the MRI place to see whether they had sent the result of the scan to the doctor and if they did if they be able to tell us something. Well, not only did they tell us something, they actually faxed a copy of my diagnosis to Erik at work. Can you imagine, I am on the phone with Erik and he is reading me the diagnosis while its coming off of the fax machine. Of course, words like malignant, meningioma, glioblastoma, etc., Erik rushed home and we cried for 3-4 hours. The neurologist that we were leaving messages for finally called us and said the she doesn't specialize in this area and that there is a new neuro-oncologist to Northwestern from Sloan Kettering Cancer Center that could see us at 2:00. We ran to the hospital and met with him. He told us that it looked like it could be a menengioma and possibily benign. He went and got the neuro-surgeon and he said the same. Both agreed what ever it was it needed to come out asap and we scheduled it for that Friday.
