My attempt at weekly updates was a bit ambitious I think! It's hard, sometimes, to stop and write about life when you are working so hard on living it and thinking forward. Much has happened, all good. Our trip was wonderful...we started in Seattle, drove down through Portland to small town called Vida where Erik's friend lives, then drove on to Mendicino California for three days and ended in San Francisco. A lot of driving, but the view and the experience was so worth it! Truly the most peaceful and introspective trips I've ever taken.
Once we returned we participated in the Cancer Survivor Walk. My incredibly supportive mom, brother, his wife and kids, joined Erik and I along with some friends from the brain tumor community that I've met along the way were all there walking. We met a little boy who was only three who has a brain tumor, sad and beautiful at the same time. He was so sweet and unaware of what he is facing, very emotional.
What else, I have started to ease into work...it feels really good to work again. One week from today, I have a follow-up mri (which I am very nervous about of course) after which I meet with my neuro onc, then my surgeon then my nutritionist all the same day (next Thursday, I'll try to post on Friday). The expectation is that the steriods that I've been taking for the past 6 (miserable!!) weeks have attacked the inflammation and that the cavity where the tumor was is clean and clear. Otherwise, we don't really know what is going on in there. That's the tricky part, expectations don't really amount to much. We continue to focus on the future and living every day, that's really all anyone can do.
Quick follow-up on the fundraising efforts...we are focusing on January and have lots of ideas. We have a place in mind, but may need some help with sponsors, silent auction donors, I've even thought a little out of the box with possibly adding a fashion show or Bachelor auction!! So if you know of any single men, let's talk. If anyone is interested in the fundraiser, please don't be shy to call or email me. I'll certainly need the help!
love, lori:}
