Bad news...

Met with my neuro-onc yesterday, there appears to be a "nodule" shaped piece that is new and not on any former scans. This can either mean tumor growth or necrosis (dead tissue growth). I have a PET scan on Friday at 7:00 am and a spectrospocopy mri on Friday at 12:30 pm. The nurses are trying to get me another specialized mri for Tuesday so I can have all my test done by the time I see my neuro onc on tuesday at 4:30. These tests are specialized to determine if the "nodule" is taking in glucose or if blood vessels surrounding the nodule are active, if they are that would mean tumor growth. If the area appears stationary and no activity, that would mean necrosis.

Waiting is not one of my stronger virtures. Waiting to hear if I either need to have surgery to remove dead tissue, or need to begin a new protocol that would include IV chemo in addition to my pill chemo. A reoccurance so soon out (my 6 month anniv is on Friday) is not a great sign. Necrosis this soon would actually be a good thing. I'll pray for necrosis even if it means surgery.
